Peripheral Arterial Injuries



Abstract
Twenty-two cases of peripheral arterial injuries treated in Seoul National University Hospital during the period from 1962 to 1969 were reveiwed.
The most common cause of the injuries was stab wound (10 cases). Others were 4 cases of bullet or sharpnel injuries, automobile accidents ans 4 iatrogenic injuries during the operation and angiography.
On 8 cases, end-to-end anastomosis or lateral suture were carried out. Simple ligation in 6 cases, pnosthetic graft replacement in 6 cases and autovenous graft replacement in 2 cases were done.
One of pseudoaneurysm caused by femoral arteriotomy for the retrograde aortography in an aortic insufficiency case expired from intestinal obstrcution and endocarditis.
This case was complicated with repeated wound infection and disruption of the graft post-operatively.
